Why did we build KnowPractices?

A very good question as the release of KnowPractices provided all practices with access to our “intellectual property” (IP). Theresa and I have built our IP since commencing Able Medico in 2014.

Our first reason is that we wanted to upskill practices in the basic and intermediate tasks associated with medical licencing. The purpose being to free ourselves so we could focus on:
  • More advanced tasks that need time to ensure a successful outcome; and
  • Maintain and build more content into both the KnowMedical (for Doctors) and KnowPractices (for practices) platforms.

The second reason is by spreading our knowledge through electronic platforms we could help more practices.
The third reason is that with our experience since 2014 we truly enjoy helping Doctors and practices. The construction and release of KnowMedical allowed us to help more Doctors and easily. We found the process of researching medical licencing, simplifying tasks and constructing the platform very professionally rewarding.

The fourth reason is that key practices asked us to provide upskilling to their teams. Based on Mark’s experience in learning photography online, we saw the opportunity to use commercially available learning platforms to share content. We could focus on content AND not on web development.

The fifth reason being is that we have worked closely with practice team members who undertake medical licencing tasks not as frequently as our team. They were “hungry for knowledge”. They saw medical licencing knowledge to help their Doctors, provide value to their practices and build their careers. We saw KnowPractices as means to empower them.

Finally, KnowPractices was born as Mark and Theresa walked “the Camino” in Spain. That time spent tramping through the Spanish countryside (such a beautiful place and wonderful people) provided time to plan the future of our practice. We thought sharing our knowledge would be of considerable value to Doctors, practices and thereby patients.

And that’s the basis of healthcare. IMPROVING LIVES!
